In search of St Patricks grave

Post by musket on Wed Oct 08, 2008 11:42 pm

An hours journey by bus from Belfast took me into the town of Downpatrick
the resting place of the Irish Patron saint St Patrick.

Down Cathedral built on top of a small hill in the town.

and over to the side of it in an enclosed graveyard

the resting place of St Patrick Irish Patron Saint

Id like to know the story behind the large stone with has half of Patrick carved nicely into it. The missing section must have a story to tell.

There was an interactive exibition which would have taken an hour and thirty five minutes to go around, that would have explained more, but i hadn't that much time
to spare before catching my return bus (I should have set out earlier) so can't provide an explanation Smile it might be on the web somewhere .........musket.
