Re: Lets Mix it Up a Bit
Bynx,
That is a nice nice looking couple. I like the poses on both shots.
Now for the nit piks . . The color on the girl in the first one seems a bit on the orange/red side, His skin tone looks good. The second shot is just to dark for my taste. Her hair and shirt get lost in the background and the side of his head and shirt get lost in her shirt. Just my two cents worth!!

Re: Lets Mix it Up a Bit
I dont know what to do about color. I just got a Macbook laptop bequeathed to me by my best friend who passed away last year. The colors look great on it. But I dont know what Im really looking at. I will have to check out this site from a different computer. These shots were just preliminaries for tomorrows shoot. Thanks for your input Mugmar.

Re: Lets Mix it Up a Bit
Just a couple of things, we have heard from a few folks that mac books can cause difficulty with displaying proper colors and brightness. I'm not sure what type of adjustments you monitor has, but you might try calibrating it.
Here are a couple of links to help you out.
http://www.photofriday.com/calibrate.php
http://www.metalvortex.com/chart/
These are for brightness. There is a chart out there somewhere for doing color also, but I was unable find it on the web.
Hope this helps you out a bit and good luck with the shoot. You have a couple of good subjects!!!

Re: Lets Mix it Up a Bit
I agree with Mugmar in what was said, the background materal gives the impression
of a lot of noise as well in my opinion, I tried an edit on one with auto colour temperature
adjust useing a 'zoner photo studio pro 11' demo trial prog which I recently downloaded
and then used the 'neat image' noise removing prog on it for this variation edit.

The reason for high temperature studio lighting when natural lighting isn't available is to
bring the colour temperaure up to give a more natural look. Software compensation helps
make up a little for inadequet indoor lighting settings.
I can see on the exif that the flash fired but may have been too far away or not fully
charged or out of sync when it fired, giving a brown or redish effect.....Also manual program
was choosen? you could try with portrait and auto settings to get some comparisons.

Re: Lets Mix it Up a Bit
Aaah, thats interesting what you just told me Musket. I did use the flash but I put a piece of toilet paper over the lens to soften the light. It never occurred to me that Id be reducing the color temperature causing a color shift. Thanks for your time on this Musket. By the way, wish me luck today. Im shooting this couple for real sometime today. I will use a tripod and work from the ideas I got from the shots I took the other day. I will post the results.

Re: Lets Mix it Up a Bit
Nicely done Bynx. The white balance seems off a touch in the first shot. musket's edit did a good job taking care of that.
The motion effect in the second one is very interesting, we like it!!!
The third on is really nice.
Haven't done much people shooting, but as with these it always helps to have people that are comfortable in front of the camera.
