Mugmar, Bynx thanks for the comments
This statue is located in Belfast's oldest cemetery the Shankill Rd graveyard
it has since been grassed over and is used now as a leisure park for the elderly
with just a few of the many previous headstones left in it. A lot of stories
and yarns surround this graveyard, it goes back to the days of body
snatchers and grave robbers. A little watch hut used to stand in it where
residents in the area and relatives of the deceased used to take it in turns to
stand guard.
In those days before plastic anotomy skeletons, the dead where highly
sought after by the medical profession for teaching purposes and whatnot .
