Re: Challenge pics
Thanks guys. A bit of explanation about the two shots. The first one is just an old lamp I have. I just sat an old Yoda toy next to it and shot it against a black background. I made up a background of stars and placed it over the sky area and then just erased the stars that were over the image. All pretty simple.
Now the one of me lighting up. I dont smoke so that is a piece of white paper wrapped around a pencil. Im holding a small white bulb from an aquarium. The cord is wrapped around my arm and the light is in my fingers. I spread my fingers apart enough to let some light through as well as illuminate my fingers from behind. I also had a piece of toilet paper cover the side of the bulb to my face so it softened the light a bit. While at the same time the underside of the bulb was as bright as it could be to get through the skin of my fingers. Im not sure what you mean by bit more light to the side of the face russell. I had a bit of the third man idea here. The lone guy lighting up a cigarette in the blackness of night. The colors remind me of artwork done by Brothers Hildebrandt of their scenes from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

Re: Challenge pics
Thanks Mugmar.
Vibgyor, I had to create a photo with a theme of Low Light. I figure you cant get much lower than the glow from a single match. Seeing someone lighting a cigarette in the dark with only the light of the match lighting the face has always interested me with the atmosphere it creates. And even though I dont smoke, creating that atmosphere was fun to do.

Re: Challenge pics
I love the 2nd one the most.. It has a mood and atmosphere. Very charming shot.. I feel this must be a good candidate for B/W conversion..
1st one has its own charm... Of course Yoda is a fun part.. You have a lots of theme related toys.. So you are utilizing it to full

Re: Challenge pics
Thanks Liu. Having a couple kids, one of whom has every toy made, helps with making fun scenes happen.

Re: Challenge pics
They are both really well done but the second one is more dramatic and would get my vote as a judge.
